Transcript of Obituary of Henry Otto Lamp Henry Otto Lamp was born Janu- ary 3, 1862 in Holstein, Probstei Schonberg, Germany, and died Feb. 7, 1936 at the St. Anthony's hospital in Carroll. He had arrived at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 4 days. Mr. Lamp came to America when young man of eighteen years, in the year 1880. He first came to Clinton Iowa and found employment the same day on a farm for Frank Naev[?][1880 census says name was Frank Baere] where he worked for more than two years. On December 10, 1883 he was mar- ried to Cathrina Jones. They then came west and located on a farm near Aspinwall where they lived until 1884 when they moved to a farm miles south of Westside which be- came the homestead. They resided there for forty six years and then re- tired and moved to the town of West- side in 1918. Mr. Lamp was baptized in the Luth- eran faith in his native country and received his education in Germany. Mrs. Lamp preceded her husband in death in March 1929. He leaves to mourn his passing seven children, twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild. His chil- dren are Lena (Mrs. Detlef Passick of Polk City); Emma (Mrs. George Fonken of Springfield, Minn.) Miss Alvena at home; Ann, (Mrs. John Mohr), Herman, and Mabel, (Mrs. Earl Brown) all of Westside; LeNora, (Mrs. George Keat of Carroll.) One brother Hans Lamp of Mankato, Minnesota also survives him. Mr. Lamp had been an agent for the Home Mutual Insurance Company for forty years and he was a member of the Hayes Township Schuetzer Verein. Mr. Lamp was a man with a cheer- ful and amiable disposition; one who was ever ready to help a friend or neighbor in time of need or distress. He had been actively identified with the affairs of his community for a half century and many are the per- sons who will remember him for his kind deeds and his optimistic outlook on life. The sympathy of the community is extended members of his fa- ily who are left to mourn the loss of their father.
